Joint AAS-Contact Singapore Information & Networking Evening

Presidents and representatives from 25 different Australian Universities Alumni Associations and the Alumni International Singapore (AIS) attended an information sharing and networking event on 19 May 2011 evening hosted by Contact Singapore. Contact Singapore is an alliance of the Singapore Economic Development Board and Ministry of Manpower which aims to attract global talent to work and live in Singapore.

More importantly, participants were warmly welcomed by AAS President Mr Loh Hoon Sun and Contact Singapore’s Deputy Executive Director, Ms Kee Ee Wah, and her staff. Following on, Ms Grace Teo, Assistant Director, shared that Contact Singapore also facilitates the decision-making process of individuals who are keen to do business and invest in Singapore as well as actively links professionals and graduating students with Singapore-based employers in key growth industries.

Touching on signature initiatives and engagement tools, she shared how employers can position themselves as employers of choice to reach out to potential candidates. She concluded her presentation with information on a series of outreach activities to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in the third quarter of 2011 and early 2012.

Next, Mr Jude Yue who chairs the AAS Marina Barrage Walk (MBW) 2011 Committee, invited all present to support the healthy lifestyle alumni networking and family bonding event scheduled on Saturday, 24 September 2011. Participants reminisced as a short video clip of the AAS Southern Ridges Canopy Walk (SRCW) 2009 was screened. MBW 2011 hopes to better the SRCW 2009 record of 800 with 1,000 participants with the collective support of alumni, families and friends.

Networking over a delicious buffet dinner spread continued. Participants also received a complimentary voucher each, courtesy of Anti-Oxidant Centre Pte Ltd. AAS would like to thank Contact Singapore for so kindly hosting the event, Anti-Oxidant Centre for the vouchers and all participants for another successful information sharing and networking evening.
