AAS Friend, Datuk Dr Philip Ting, Receives AM Award

HE Mr Miles Kupa, the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, invited 8 members from AAS to attend the investiture of Datuk Dr Philip Ting, who on 1 July 2010 was appointed an Honorary Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services as Australia’s Honorary Council in Kuching, Sarawak.

On 21 January 2011, Mr Loh Hoon Sun, President of Australian Alumni Singapore (AAS), led a delegation comprising Mr Michael Yap, Mr Simon Ho, Mr Seah Kim Swee, Dr Dale Anderson, Dr Angelo Venardos, Ms Christina Tan and Ms Tang Shiuh Ying, to attend the Investiture Ceremony of Datuk Dr Ting at the High Commissioner’s Residence in Kuala Lumpur.

A strong advocate of social and business networking, Datuk Dr Ting is a strong supporter of AAS. In 2008, he was instrumental in helping to garner the support of Sarawak Australian Graduates Association (SAGA) and Malaysia Australian Alumni Council (MAAC) members in attending the Australian Universities International Alumni Convention (AUIAC 2008) held in Singapore. He continues to be a good friend of AAS and in November 2010, he led a delegation of Australian graduates from Malaysia and Sarawak to attend the AAS 55th Anniversary Gala Dinner.

A graduate of Swinburne University Technology, Datuk Dr Ting is the current Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Malaysia-Australia Foundation (MAF) and Vice-Patron of SAGA.

AAS is proud to be associated with such a distinguished Australian alumnus!
