SINGAPORE ALUMNI PRESIDENT SPOTLIGHT

JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY SINGAPORE

RAJANEESH
KURUP

EX- PRESIDENT AT JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

What is your favourite memory of JCU?

The time spent at JCU Singapore was one of the most memorable periods in my life. I met a lot of wonderful people, made some great friends for life, all while receiving world class Australian education in the multi-cultural, sunny (and sometimes rainy) Singapore. The most memorable day during my JCU life was my graduation day. It just made me realize how much I learned and achieved during my stay at JCU.

What was your top campus hangout?

JCU Singapore being a truly international campus, with students from across the globe gave me the unique opportunity for a diverse international education. The corridor on the classroom floors in JCU Singapore Campus was melting pots of languages, cultures, interests and hobbies. Spending time there, after lectures helped me learn the most important aspect of overseas education – exposure to the distinct cultural perspectives and nuances.

What do you hope to accomplish as Chapter President?

I am quite fortunate to have a great team very focused on achieving the targets we have set for ourselves. We want to represent and work towards benefiting our alumni community in Singapore, provide opportunities to grow professionally, intellectually and have fun together as an inclusive family. I am looking to bring together the JCU Singapore graduates from 2003 and the JCU Australia graduates over the years residing in Singapore.

How can AAS and your Chapter Work together to deliver more value to your members?

A young alumni association as ours require a lot of backing at the pace we are targeting to grow. In addition to the extensive support we have been receiving from JCU, AAS has been supportive by not only giving us exposure to learn and grow from the more established associations but also provided us with platforms like AAS Digital Village that we can leverage for our growth and also to network with our alumni globally.
