Murdoch University IT Seminar supported by AAS
Murdoch Alumni’s Singapore Chapter, the School of Engineering & Information Technology (Murdoch University) and the Australian Alumni Singapore (AAS) have the pleasure in holding a night of professional development, networking and promoting goodwill amongst members from different Australian tertiary institutions. We would like to extend an invitation to you to attend.
The event’s speakers and topics provide a broad landscape of the IT industry and complexities. The speakers’ topics are non-technical in nature and are about 20 minutes in duration for each topic.
Those keen to meet fellow alumni and members from other Australian Universities are strongly encouraged to attend.
It promises to be an entertaining and fun night.
Special Guest speakers for the night and their topics are:
Mr Paul McCormack - Director, Microsoft’s Consulting Practice, APAC
TOPIC: Selling Complex Solutions in Emerging Markets: Challenges and Solutions
Paul is currently Bid Director for Microsoft’s consulting practice in APAC and is responsible for selling end-to-end technology solutions to government and enterprise clients, primarily in South-East Asia. He will explain the role of Microsoft Services, how they support Microsoft’s wider business objectives and the challenges that they face in selling multi-million dollar engagements to clients in emerging markets.
Originally from the UK but now based in Singapore, Paul has also worked extensively in Africa and Australia. His experience spans companies such as Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Macquarie Group, IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a degree in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics from Warwick (UK) and is currently studying at NUS Business School in the Asia-Pacific Executive MBA program.

TOPIC: The IT Supply Chain – A Changing Landscape and its Implications
The supply chain from IT manufacturers to end-users involves key intermediaries such as distributors, system integrators, IT departments, procurement managers etc. With increasing user sophistication and the accessibility of on-line and cloud services, the roles of these intermediaries undergo continuing change.
Robert is Singaporean, and has lived and worked also in North America, England, West Germany and Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Information Management from the London School of Economics.
